Looks like they've already poured more than $300 million into making this first Avatar movie...so I bet there will be more to come.

As a matter of fact, not only James Cameron declared that even if he doesn't have the scripts, he has the plot already setup in his mind for two sequels at least..

But I'd say it would be stupid for the studios, after pouring so much cash into the project, NOT to use the same CGI (lots and lots of millions to make the software, the designs, etc...) for some more. The profits could be at least double (for each sequel) than the ones expected from this first attempt.

I wish I could get people to come with me to see this movie...

I absolutely can't wait to see it...I saw the ad months ago and it's nice to see a "non-franchise" movie get made.

I took 2 film courses in college and my 2nd class had a major research project. I did mine on how the business of movies has changed to where only franchise films get made (sequels and prequels) because the average movie costs over 100 million to make.

The logic for studios is that it's easier to put 100 million out if you have an original so that's why we get tons of Shrek, Bond, and Star Wars movie.

Lookin forward to seeing how this blog evolves...I'm a closet nerd...nice to have a place to hang out!

Cheers,

Brad
